David Schubert, CFP®

David is a seasoned financial advisor with a CFP designation, Series 7, and Series 66 licenses. With experience at leading global investment firms, he specializes in financial planning and wealth management.

He holds a double major in Economics and Finance from Eastern Washington University, which laid the groundwork for his successful career. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, David is passionate about guiding clients through their financial journeys.

He finds fulfillment in empowering clients to navigate complex financial situations and witnessing their achievements. Outside of work, he enjoys staying active, spending time with loved ones, exploring new restaurants in the DFW area, and sharing his culinary experiences with friends. Additionally, David is an avid guitar player with a love for various genres of music.

David is dedicated to providing tailored financial solutions that instill confidence and promote long-term financial success for his clients.

J. Marc Lewis JD, LL.M., EA

Marc is a graduate of Plano East Senior High. He earned a BBA from Southern Methodist University, a JD (Juris Doctor) from Southern Methodist University School of Law, and a LLM (Masters of Law in Taxation) from the University of Miami School of Law. In addition, Marc is enrolled to practice before the IRS by the Department of the Treasury.

Marc is a sixth generation resident of Collin County and comes from a long line of self-employed family members including his parents and both sets of grandparents. He and his wife Stephanie currently reside in Murphy with their two daughters, Meredith and Morgan.

Marc has been a Rotarian for about two decades and he has long served on the Board of Directors of two large Plano-based charities: Plano Sports Authority and The Plano Balloon Festival.

Marc is the long-time president of the North Texas Collegiate Baseball Umpires Association and served as the National Umpire Advisor to the American Amateur Baseball Congress. In his 30+ years of umpiring, Marc has worked multiple post-season assignments for the NCAA and NCJAA and has also worked multiple other post-season assignments for other amateur associations. He is currently on the conference staff of The Big XII, The American Athletic Association, The Mountain West Conference and Conference – USA.

Duke Odom

Duke Odom is our resident health insurance advisor.  He is an accomplished Operations Leader, Executive, and Problem Solver.  Duke is from Atlanta Georgia and received his undergraduate degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University.  Duke completed a distinguished military career as an Air Force aviator with over 3000 hours flown in fighter aircraft and over 200 combat missions supporting both Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom.  During his tenure, he was the CEO and commanded a squadron of over 300 military members and served as Chief of Staff to a General Officer supporting over 15,000 Active Duty Airmen and their families. Duke holds two masters degrees, one from the University of Phoenix and the other from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.  Upon transition from the military, Duke was a General Manager at a private Defense contracting company where he was responsible for the resourcing, budgeting and execution of a highly complex 220 million dollar Department of Defense Airship program.  As a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Duke developed his own start-up consulting company as CEO with a focus on process improvement and profit maximization. The make-up of his consulting portfolio includes financial services, aerospace and defense, real estate and pharmaceutical companies.  Upon completion of the Wharton School, Duke served as an Executive Director at Chase Bank, where he led geographically separated teams in the U.S. and Ireland to deliver process improvements to disparate areas of the Corporate and Investment Bank to include Fund Accounting, Trade Management, Asset Servicing and Fund of Hedge Funds.  In the real estate space, he managed a team of up to 130 staff and a portfolio with over 20 Real Estate clients, to include two of the five largest U.S. banks.  His consulting practice consisted of multiple clients to include Nike and was also responsible for performing due diligence and mitigating risk on behalf of banks, mortgage servicers, and investors nationwide.  He now leads a health insurance agency that is charged with helping individuals, families, and small businesses navigate the seemingly complex arena of healthcare and small business benefits.   Duke has served on the executive board and as an advisor to the Co-Founder of Give to the World, a non-profit fund raising organization that provides much needed medical and other supplies to civilians affected by conflict worldwide.  Duke is also a member of the Military Officer’s Association of America.  Throughout his career Duke, regardless of the industry, has a proven track record of focused leadership, management, and exceptional results.  Duke has a nationwide health insurance customer base and resides in Dallas, TX.

Michelle Brock-Orozco

Michelle has been working at the Carrington Group since 2016. She oversees all bookkeeping and accounting for the Carrington Group and related entities. Michelle brings an expertise in various bookkeeping, and financial reporting tools, as well as a high level of proficiency in QuickBooks. She is a key member of the Carrington team.

Brad Carroll, CFP®, APMA™, AWMA™

Brad Carroll, CFP® serves as the President and Chief Investment Officer of Black Swan Management Group, LLC a Registered Investment Advisory firm based out of the State of Texas. He serves as the Chief Investment Officer for Carrington Advisors, LLC. As such, Brad provides oversight for all Carrington client portfolios. Brad has completed his master’s in financial planning from the College of Financial Planning, and also carries a Certificate in Blockchain and Digital Assets from the Digital Assets Council of Financial Professionals.

Brad structures portfolios that deploy up to ten or more different portfolio strategists with the intent to provide clients with a high probability of achieving their goals with reduced risk and reduced portfolio expense.

Brad also manages two portfolio strategies: Live Oak that features 20 select large cap stocks of highly rated companies that pay a dividend and are trading at an attractive price and screened monthly; The Matrix is a hedge that trades the S&P 500 long and short using the ProFunds Ultra Bull that is designed to daily perform at 2x the S&P 500, and the Ultra Bear that is designed to daily perform at 2x inverse the S&P 500.

Brad is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and a combat veteran with two deployments to Iraq. He started in the finance industry in 2010 where he worked with a top performing portfolio manager who specialized in active tactical management. Brad resides in Minneapolis, MN with his wife, Dr. Dana Carroll, who is an associate professor at the University of Minnesota, and their two daughters, Faye & Ada.

Debbie Lynch

Debbie Lynch is a Senior Principal Consultant at ACA Global, a worldwide leader in compliance consulting services. Debbie has been providing regulatory services and support to the investment advisory community since 2004. Over the years, her clientele included financial planners, wealth managers, hedge funds, mutual fund advisers, institutional managers, pension consultants, real estate managers, and private equity firms.

Prior to moving into the consulting world, Debbie spent 8 years at an Atlanta-based wealth management firm gaining industry knowledge and experience in operations, trading, technology, financial planning, asset allocation and wealth management.

Debbie holds a BA in Economics from the University of Connecticut. She resides in Atlanta, GA and has three college-aged children. She spends much of her free time swimming, biking or running in training for a triathlon. She recently took up mountain biking as a new adventure.

Scott A. Meyer

Scott Meyer focuses his practice on Corporate and Intellectual Property matters. His Corporate practice includes a broad spectrum of services including entity formation, business transactions, operational agreements and contracts, sales, acquisitions and mergers of businesses, corporate governance and employment matters.

His Intellectual Property practice includes trademark, licensing and various service agreements for corporations.

In addition to his transactional practice, Mr. Meyer has a broad range of litigation experience in both commercial and intellectual property disputes.

His clients include businesses in many different industries and on various platforms, including entertainment, sports, technology, software, retail, e-commerce, manufacturing, biotech, publishing and finance, for both private and public companies, start-ups, small, midsize and large entities, universities, trusts and non-profit organizations.

In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Meyer worked in corporate America for two Fortune 500 companies in the advertising and technology industries.

John C. Capps, CPA PC

John C. Capps has been a Tax Strategist and risk management officer for the Carrington Group since its opening in 2013. John brings over 30 years of industry experience helping families and business owners with their tax needs. John designs an annual Tax Action Plan to help families reduce their tax liability. John also assists the risk management team in creating a clients financial safety plan that addresses all things insurance. Life, Health, Disability, Long Term Care, and Property Casualty are a few of the areas that are addressed as a part of the Family Office methodology. John is passionate about helping families achieve their goals and live the life they desire. Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, golfing, and is an avid reader.

Heather Hanson

Heather earned her BFA from Tarleton State University, where she studied all aspects of Theatre, with a focus on publicity and marketing. Heather worked on her university newspaper, and minored in business. Heather loves helping other people and strives to be the person her dogs think she is. Heather spends most of her time with her husband, Myron, and their two dogs. She enjoys all the crafts, travelling to new places, and Mexican cuisine.  Heather and her husband Myron are excited to welcome their newest addition to the family in July.

Heather loves taking care of the needs of the families that she serves. As the Family Services Director, she works directly with families to make sure that every question, comment, or concern that hits her desk is immediately taken care of. She loves being able to greet families when they come to the office and has a special relationship with each family she serves. She is so blessed to work for such a great company.

Dee Carroll

Deanna “Dee” Carroll serves as the Director of Operations and Facilities for Carrington Group.  Prior to that she was Director of Operations and HR for another Dallas based financial firm.    In addition, she owned and operated her own executive Suite business, Suite Success, Inc. with 7 locations and 1200 offices serving Fortune 100 and 500 companies until its sale in 1998.  She received her bachelor’s and master’s Degrees from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in Business and Career Development.  In addition, she completed a turnaround for Dayspring Assisted Living in Plano, Texas acting as their General Manager bringing occupancy to 100% and then hired her replacement. In her spare time, she loves spending time traveling and hanging out with her 7 grandkids and an ever-growing family!

Dustin Maxwell

Dustin Maxwell has over 10 years in the financial services industry, serving in many roles including compliance, licensing, and back office administration. While working as a mortgage banker for Washington Mutual during the 2007 mortgage crisis and interacting with people who were affected by it, Dustin acted upon his desire to help families in a more meaningful way. Deepening his knowledge while working with the platforms of brokerage firms such as Charles Schwab, TD Ameritrade, and Fidelity, he is equipped to help Carrington in numerous ways over and above administrative tasks. His understanding of the many systems involved is the perfect complement to his commitment to getting the details right. He finds true satisfaction in knowing that he’s directly impacting families toward achieving their goals and living the life they desire.

In his free time, Dustin is an avid sports fan, enjoys reading, spending time with his dog Odessa, darts, discovering new music, and going to concerts.
